HOW TO GET TO OXFORD

From the Airport

Bus:
The easiest and cheapest way to get to Oxford is to take a bus from the airport that goes to the city. Buses run by The Airline leave Heathrow approximately every 30 minutes, and Gatwick every hour, and are large, comfortable coaches which operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They also have great WiFi!

From Heathrow, a one way ticket costs approximately £25 and takes approximately an hour and 20 minutes. Link to timetable here:

From Gatwick, a one way ticket costs approximately £28 and takes approximately 2 hours. Link to timetable here:

Stansted Airport is linked to Oxford by the National Express 757, which runs approximately every two hours.

Taxi:
A taxi from the airport to Oxford costs approximately £70 from Heathrow, and £110 from Gatwick, not including tip.

Hire Car:
There are several companies that offer hire cars with fixed rates to get you to Oxford from the airport. These offer similar rates as the taxi. Check if you need this visa if you’re from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.

DIETARY:

CURRENCY:

The currency in England is the British pound. International credit cards are accepted for payment in most hotels, restaurants and shops. Exchange offices and ATM's are available throughout the city and at the airport. We recommend that you change some money at the airport for immediate needs.

TIPPING:

It is customary to leave 10-15% of the bill when dining out. However, restaurants often add on a service charge (usually 12.5%), especially if you're in a large group, so it's worth checking your bill if you don't want to tip twice.

ELECTRICITY:

The UK power supply is single phase 220 -240 volts at 50 Hertz. Most power sockets in the UK have three pins, and most work with Type G plugs. We will have charging stations available at the conference with 220 volt receptacles for Europe, UK, Asia, South Africa, and Australasia plugs. There will also be receptacles for 120 volt North American style plugs.

The meeting language is English.
